Wind Uplift Repair in Makakilo, HI

Wind Uplift Repair in Makakilo, HI

Wind uplift repair reseals shingles whose adhesive bond has broken, leaving them loose on the roof even though nothing is visibly missing. Makakilo, HI Storm Damage Roof Repair handles this across Makakilo, HI, and it is the damage homeowners most often miss.

Asphalt shingles hold down through a strip of adhesive that bonds each course to the one below once sun warms it. Strong wind breaks that bond. The shingle drops back into place and looks completely normal from the ground, while sitting there unsealed and waiting for the next gust to take it.

You can find it with your hand rather than your eyes. An unsealed shingle lifts freely at the bottom edge. A sealed one tears before it releases. Adjusters know this test well, and a roof full of unsealed shingles is claimable damage even with nothing missing, provided somebody documents it.

Repair means hand-sealing the affected courses with roofing cement under each tab, or replacing courses where the shingles have creased. Creasing is the giveaway that a shingle folded back on itself, and a creased shingle has a fracture line through the mat that will fail regardless of resealing.

Cold weather stops shingles self-sealing, so autumn and winter wind damage needs hand-sealing rather than waiting for sun.
